Helldivers 2, one of Sony's most anticipated PC releases in recent years, has seen a significant drop in its player base. Despite initially impressive numbers, the game has lost nearly half of its players.

According to SteamDB, a platform that tracks player activity on Steam, Helldivers 2 is currently struggling to reach 100,000 concurrent players. This decline is notable, considering the game peaked with over 400,000 players online shortly after its launch. As recently as April, the game maintained an average of over 220,000 concurrent players.

While these figures suggest that Helldivers 2 is losing momentum on Steam, it's important to remember that these statistics only reflect the game's performance on this platform. Players on PlayStation 5 are not included in these numbers, which might present a different picture.

Following the initial success of Helldivers 2, developer Arrowhead Game Studios has ambitious plans. In an interview with GamesIndustry, the CEO and Creative Director expressed their vision of growing the studio to the scale of industry giants like Blizzard and FromSoftware, without resorting to selling the company.
